Independent Music Label
S&Y Records is an independent label dedicated to amplifying bold, authentic voices. We find the artists the world needs to hear.
Est. 1993
S&Y Records was never meant to be a business. It started as a conviction — that the voices coming out of The Netherlands in the early nineties were too raw, too real, and too important to be ignored by the major labels chasing radio formats. Thirty years later, that conviction is still the only thing we answer to.
S&Y Records opens its first office. With a two-track recorder, a folding table, and no distribution deal, the label signs its first two artists and releases a limited run of 1000 CDs. Every copy sells out in three weeks.
After four years of hustle and word-of-mouth, S&Y lands its first regional distribution agreement. The label begins developing a signature aesthetic — soul-forward, lyrically dense — that would define its identity for decades to come.
Ten years after opening, S&Y marks the milestone quietly — the way the label has always operated. No press release. A small show. The artists who had passed through the roster came back for one night. The room was full.
"We were never interested in the hit. We were interested in the truth."S&Y Records — internal memo, 2003
As streaming rewrites the economics of the industry, S&Y adapts without compromising. The label moves its archive to digital, expands its A&R reach beyond The Netherlands for the first time, and begins re-releasing its back catalogue to a generation hearing it for the first time.
Three decades on, S&Y Records enters a new chapter. The name is the same. The address has moved. The conviction hasn’t shifted by a single degree. With a renewed roster and the same independence the label was built on, the work continues — one voice at a time.
Our Artists
001 — 2026
Trey Miles brings an intimate, cinematic soul sound rooted in the streets and stories of New York. His debut single for S&Y Records is a letter to devotion, patient, warm, and impossible to forget.
002 — 2026
Born in Panama City and raised between two worlds — the jazz and soul of her Panamanian father and the deep roots of her Greek mother — Lexi Yah carries a musical identity shaped by loss, movement, and healing. After moving to Thessaloniki, she found her voice in the city’s vibrant music scene. Her debut single “The Right Star” introduces the world to her emotional vocals and the stories only she can tell.
003 — 2026
A collective of highly skilled session and live musicians united by a shared passion for experimentation and collaboration. What began as a one-off studio project evolved into a creative ensemble whose debut album, Dark Sea, weaves contemporary jazz, fusion, soul, and world music into a singular and compelling voice.
